May 15th Results

Been a busy week so I have been a little slow updating the site. On May 15th we ran at whip city speedway in Westfield Mass. We were very excited to learn that we had finally fixed our fuel devilry problems. Thanks to Rich Wood and the Bodio family for their input and help.
We ran quite well in our heat race Saturday and qualified for the main event. We started last in the main event and worked our way up to a spot comfortably inside the top 15 inside just a few laps. Unfortunately the mechanical bugs returned and we had a clutch failure forcing us to drop from the race.
A brand new clutch has been installed by K and S Powersports this week so we are ready to return to racing this weekend. We have to reinstall the fuel tank, hang the body panels and do the weekly maintenance tonight and Saturday morning but should be ready to run by the time the green flag drops on the 22nd. Hope to see you at the track

May 8th racing report

Mechanical gremlins bit the 06 race team this weekend at Whip City Speedway. The fuel pump on the car broke and prevented the team from finish the feature event. The 06 team was official credited with a 19th place finish. New parts are currently being shipped from Missouri and the team plans to have the car in racing shape for the next race on May 15th.

Testing

We had a semi good test. The first test I was not going fast enough to get effective weight transfer to the rear to have any valid data on the car but at least I was able to see the track from the cockpit perspective. On the second test, the track was ruff but I needed to try to go a little faster, but between the ruts and the fact that was still not used to the steering I was kind of in the way. Near the need of the session I lost some power. I had great power for some of the laps but near he end I had a drop off in power. No back firing or motor skipping but just a total lack for crisp power. So I tossed my hand out and got out of the way

On the third time out I had 2 or 3 relatively smooth laps with good speed but again lost power after a few laps. I tried to be on the throttle as much as I could one the third test but as I said I lost power after 2 lap.. I got some advise from the prior car owner that perhaps that the reason I lost power on the 2nd session was because I was loading up the carbs as I was not on the throttle as much as I should be. So when I felt the drop in power again I pulled off the track ASAP to stay out of the way and to get motor data.

Well we got a week to learn. Hey part of the joy of racing is learning and learning and learning.
